Robert Key
Robert enlisted in the Hayneville Guards in March 1861 which would become
"M" Company, 6th Alabama. Robert was wounded twice, once in the Peninsula Campaign and once at Gettysburg. He served in all of the battles fought by the 6th. He was captured with the rest of the regiment during the retreat from Richmond by Sheridan's Cavalry two days before the surrender at Appomattox. Robert was paroled at Appomattox, returned to Lowndes
county to marry Catherine Rachel Moorer on 18 August 1865
