This is the only one of the two known grave stones to have survived.  When the county road was being widened and repaired, Rachel's stone slab had gotten broken into many pieces and Samuel's stone slab couldn't be located at all.  When Bonnie and I (Ric) were on vacation we searched the area and came up with a slab that was similiar to what we thought it should look like up the hill, turned writing side down, and at one time used as either a work table or a picnic table. Thanks to my cousin, Pat Gordon, it was not only saved, but it was cleaned and, it being the original and having enough room at the bottom, we decided to use it for both Samuel AND Rachel by attempting to use the original font used nearly 150 years ago.
Now, because of the photos taken, if anything were to happen to this one another Identical one could be made.
